Valens is currently seeking a Cost Accounting ninja to join their company.  

 

Valens’ industry leading extraction techniques are used to create oils for a variety of cannabis producers and a versatile range of cannabis products. Whether it’s medical or recreational, local or international, they’re pursuing meaningful growth, extraction and testing to bring purposeful cannabis to market. 

The Cost Accountant plays a critical role within the organization by overseeing and tracking inventory and associated costs to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Determining and analyzing costs for all areas of the organization including labor, material, and overhead 
  • Preparing monthly inventory and costing reports for management review
  • Conducting physical inventory counts and reconciliations with system reports
  • Working with the operations team to ensure reliable costing for new product development
  • Assisting the controller with other accounting responsibilities including processing semi-monthly payroll, compiling information for auditors, and preparing sales invoices

Requirements

The Cost Accountant will possess the following qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in a cost accounting role, ideally in a manufacturing setting
  • Degree or Diploma in Business with a focus in Accounting/Finance
  • CPA Designation or student would be preferred
  • Accounting experience in a public company setting will be considered an asset
  • A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
