The Child Advocacy Centre of Kelowna (CAC) brings together a multi-disciplinary team of professionals in a safe, comfortable, child-friendly environment to provide a collaborative, team-based response to child abuse. The Child and Family Advocate provides support, advocacy and referral sources to children and youth victims, witnesses, and their non-offending family members. In this role, the Advocate will work alongside community based victim services group to provide seamless and culturally sensitive services and support throughout the child maltreatment investigation, intake through deposition and beyond if required.

Requirements

We are seeking an incredibly passionate, unique individual to support and champion the strong vision and mission set forth by the CAC. Someone who has:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related human/social field
  • Knowledge of child development, impact of trauma on children and youth, the justice and child welfare systems and the relevant legislation
  • Five years’ experience working in a similar role and/or environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to crisis situations and provide immediate crisis support as required
  • Valid driver’s license and clean criminal record
  • A desire to make a difference for the children and youth in the community
